VOLUNTEER AWARDS – LET’S CELEBRATE!

LET'S CELEBRATE !!

WE COULD NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOU!

Summerfolk volunteers are the life-giving roots of the festival’s tree of success, providing encouraging team spirit, creativity and a tremendous amount of support.  Every volunteer donates their time and energy contributing uniquely to the magical experience of Summerfolk and the growing community of the festival family.

Some of you have done this for years!  Thank you.  Some of you were newcomers and we want to see you come back again!

IT’S A HAT TRICK FOR CAROL PARSONS !

It is staggering to see how the efforts of one person can truly make a difference.

Over the years, Carol has been dedicated to Summerfolk in multiple roles, such as: Instrument Shuttle, Backstage Cafe, Commercial Food, Security and now as Festival Co-Chair.  She is always ready to assist in any way – in almost any language.

In addition to this work, Carol has been deeply committed to and involved in other initiatives the Owen Sound area.  Such as: GRACE (Georgian Riding Association for Challenged Riders) and the OASA (Ontario Animal Shelter Association)

For these reasons, the GBFS was proud to nominate Carol and see her receive the following awards in 2018:

  • FEO (Festival & Events Ontario) – Volunteer of the Year Award
  • City of Owen Sound – Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Province of Ontario – Volunteer Services Award

FEO VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR – BRIAN LOW

Congratulations got out to Brian Low who has been a volunteer with Summerfolk since the beginning of the festival, a life-time member of the GBFS and a truly dedicated member of the Summerfolk family.

During his time with us, Brian has made an impact in more ways than one.  As the festival’s Accreditation Crew Chief, Brian has provided leadership in the registration of volunteers, media and VIPs during the three days of the Summerfolk Festival.  A daunting task, yet his calm and organized demeanour provides the essential leadership, organization and patience required. In 2015, Brian facilitated a Strategic Planning exercise with the GBFS Board of Directors, staff and selected long time members – once again organizing with leadership and patience.

At the festival, Brian can be found with the Accreditation Crew, at the front gates of the festival, ready to welcome all – with smiles and flowers,on their shirts.
