Workshops take place at Summerfolk Music Festival. You must have an entry ticket for Saturday Aug. 22 and /or Sunday August 23 in order to attend.

Whittling Cardinal workshop

Whittling A Bird

SAT AUG 22nd, 10:30 AM- 12:30 PM

Whittling is a great pastime that uses few tools and takes up no space! You can whistle anywhere, at the cottage or in your easy chair, once you know how you will never want to stop. In this class you will learn to whittle a little cardinal (or your bird of choice) that you can choose to mount on a doorstop or hang as a decoration.This is a heritage craft that needs to be preserved and passed on. Think about bringing a friend or family member and have a great experience together.

Pierre is a local cabinet maker, saw maker, whittler, and teacher.

Floral Watercolours

SATURDAY AUG 22nd, 1 - 3 PM

Spend an afternoon exploring the possibilities of painting with watercolours using beautiful summer blooms as inspiration. Learn to create your own expressive paintings and develop a daily art practice. It just might be the art therapy you need!

Michelle loves to share tips and tricks that will make you love the medium as much as she does! No skills necessary; all materials included (although feel free to bring along your own brushes or supplies if you have any).

Michelle Minke is a multi-talented artist who has been teaching high school at Bruce Peninsula District School most of her career. She is pleased to share her love of painting and pottery at the Georgian Bay Centre for the Arts.

Print-Bandana-SF-2026

Lino Printed Bandana

SUNDAY AUG 23rd , 10:30 - 12:30 PM

In this morning class you will cut a custom lino block and complete a 2 collar block print on a bandana. Don’t worry if you have no experience your instructor Shannon will gently walk you through the process..

This is a casual way to dip your toe into the world of printing. No pressure just a fun social time and a custom bandana to show off at Summerfolk.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Shannon Winterstein has been a digital illustrator and printmaker for over 20 years. As a recent arrival to Owen Sound Shannon has become an active member of the arts community and a member of GB Arts. Shannon’s encouraging teaching style coupled with her engaging personality are a perfect combination to get the most out of our students.

Felted Soap Making

SUNDAY AUG 23rd, 1-3 PM

Give a person a bar of soap and they will be clean for a month, teach someone to felt their own soap and they will be gorgeous forever.

Wet felting is a fun and fascinating, using natural wool fibres and turning them into durable felt. In this class you will learn how to felt around a bar of soap that becomes a perfect exfoliant for your skin.

Be prepared for a sudsy splashy time and go home with 2 colourful bars of felted soap.
