Tim Grimm is a Folk-Americana singer-songwriter with a rich and varied background in theatre, film and television. For most of his 25-year career as a storytelling balladeer in the tradition of John Prine, Woody Guthrie, and Bob Dylan, Tim has written primarily about community, family, and social issues – often framed by his strong sense of place, and his love of the rolling hills, woods, and rural folk with whom he grew up in rural Indiana. His songs are filled with colourful characters and landscapes, written and sung with vivid warmth and intimacy. He is recognized by many as one of America’s finest storytelling songwriters. His albums regularly top the yearly International Folk Radio charts- #1 in 2025 (BONES OF TREES), 2021 (GONE) and 2017 (A STRANGER IN THIS TIME). Tim also had the #1 song on International Folk Radio in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2024, and 2025. Tim has played folk festivals including Kerrville and Wildflower, the International Townes Van Zandt Festival, WoodyFest, the Ferdinand Folk Festival, and many other notable folk venues. Grimm also tours Western Europe every year. As an actor, Tim spent several years working in Los Angeles in the 1990s, where he co-starred for 2 seasons on the NBC drama Reasonable Doubts, co-starred in the film A Clear and Present Danger with Harrison Ford, and appeared in numerous other films and tv projects. In 2015, Tim founded Scotland Folk Tours, which brings noted North American folk/Americana musicians to lead small-group music tours of Scotland. He also leads small-group tours for Inishfree Irish Music Tours and plans to begin offering small-group tours of Italy in the fall of 2026. Tim lives with his partner, Alissa, on 50 acres of pristine woods in Southern Indiana, purchased by his father in 1971.
